  • The Louisiana coastline, built by natural processes over 6,000 years, will likely be washed into the Gulf of Mexico within the next decade. The wetlands, barrier islands, and mangroves along the coast insulate against hurricanes. Scientists call for immediate action and billions of dollars to try to stave off the problem.

  • All of our Iraqi eggs are apparently in one basket. "There is no Plan B. 'I'm a Marine,' Pace told them, 'and Marines don't talk about failure. They talk about victory.'...'Plan B was to make Plan A work.'"

  • In the ongoing saga of fired US Attorney for New Mexico, David Iglesias (the real life inspiration for Tom Cruise's character in A Few Good Men), Senator Domenici (R-NM) admits to contacting Iglesias. "Legal experts say it violates congressional ethics rules for a senator or House member to communicate with a federal prosecutor regarding an ongoing criminal investigation."

  • Continuing the market slide begun last week, Bonddad reports the week is off to a rough start in Asia and Europe. Wall Street appears uncertain of what this week will bring for US markets.
